The
Ford F-150 Lightning is the latest in a growing cohort of new electric- and hybrid-powered vehicles. What can it do for you? Let’s examine some of the F-150 Lightning’s most remarkable and unique features.
Built For Work
Boasting more torque than any previous Ford F-150, the F-150 Lightning offers 775 lb-ft of nearly instant torque at peak. Paired with 426 horsepower (563hp with the Extended-Range battery), this electric truck means business.
With a 5.5ft truck bed, a spacious front-trunk cargo bay, and a tailgate “workbench on wheels” surface, F-150 Lightning is ready to work. And 10,000 pounds in towing capacity (with available EV pickup) means that it can lug anything you throw its way.
Next-Level Electric Energy
Two battery sizes are available for this Ford model: the Standard 98.0-kWh battery facilitates a driving range of 230 miles per charge, while the Extended-Range 131.0-kWh pack adds an extra 90 miles per charge (320 total). Every Lightning battery is compatible with most charging stations, including ones equipped with a 120V or 240V NEMA 14-50 outlet.
The F-150 Lightning’s battery power extends beyond the road — it can also be used to fuel your home in a pinch. When connected to the available Charge Station Pro, Ford Intelligent Backup Power is capable of powering a home for up to three days, 10 if power is rationed. A mobile app keeps you updated with power levels, charge status, and more.
Tech Inside and Out
Tons of tech comes standard in the Lightning’s cabin, including a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system (15-inch displays available for premium trims), Apple CarPlay, and a Wi-FFi hotspot. Ford’s new BlueCruise hands-free driving system is also available.
But the tech doesn’t stop at the cabin doors. The frunk is equipped with four 120 V and two USB chargers, and exterior 360-degree zone lighting is ready to illuminate your surroundings, whether you’re at a worksite or a campsite.
